Sharing Files Via Nginx on Linux

Sharing Files Via Nginx on Linux

Sometimes we will have the need to share files to other people. If it is just a small file, such as a word document or an image with the size smaller than 5 MB, then sending it via email or instant messaging apps like WeChat will be enough. However, when it comes to large files such as videos, email or instant messaging apps won’t allow you to send because they have the size limitation for the attachment. Maybe someone will use cloud storage service like Google Drive, OneDrive, Baidu Netdisk and Mega.nz but these aren’t the best choice because you need to upload your files to their server and other people will download them from their server, this is not peer-to-peer, it will cost double time or even more if the server limits your download speed. So I think the best solution is to serve the files locally, of course you will need a public IP address before doing this. I will take Ubuntu for example.

Things To Do After Installing Kubuntu 22.04

Things To Do After Installing Kubuntu 22.04

I dropped Ubuntu because of the user interface of Gnome, and then KDE came to my eyes. I was looking for a desktop environment that has the taskbar at the bottom and without top bar, just like Windows, then I found KDE. The other reason why I choose KDE is that the theme color of it is blue, my favourite color, while Ubuntu uses the orange color as the theme color, I don’t like orange. I tried Kubuntu 20.04 LTS when 22.04 LTS hasn’t released. I was not satisfied with the Application Launcher (Start Menu) of 20.04, which was using Plasma 5.18 LTS, there was no option for me to view all applications sorted by alphabet, all the applications are categorized, although I could use other Application Launcher. Luckily, Kubuntu 22.04 LTS was released on April 21, 2022, together with KDE Plasma 5.24 LTS and its new Application Launcher with the feature that sorts all the applications by alphabet, this is a necessary function. I downloaded it from USTC Mirror and installed it in my computer.

Compare to Ubuntu, Kubuntu 22.04’s System Settings includes most of the settings, which means I don’t need to install something like Gnome Tweak, dconf-editor or Gnome extensions.

Software To Install After Installing Windows 10

Software To Install After Installing Windows 10

After installing Windows 10, some neccessary software should be installed. Luckily, there aren’t as many settings to do as Ubuntu.

Install Windows

This is the Step 0. Windows 10 can be downloaded officially from Microsoft, choose Windows 10 Pro edition while installing. However, I prefer the LTSC (Long Term Servicing Channel) edition. Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2021 can be downloaded here, here is an ed2k link for it too but I don’t think there are enough seeders. Make sure not to download the evaluation edition from Microsoft official website.

Things To Do After Installing Ubuntu 20.04

Every time I install a new software, the first thing to do is to configure it. Doing the configuration could be very annoying, especially when you are doing a re-installation, you have to do something you did before but you couldn’t remember well. Some software has a good default setting, I mean the setting suits me, I don’t need to do any extra setting, but for some software, the default setting doesn’t fit my habits, I have to do a lot of settings, I even have to export and backup the config file (if possible) in case of re-installation. Ubuntu is the latter, the annoying one.

A New Start For My Blog

A New Start For My Blog

I built my blog on July 27, 2017 by using GitHub Pages and Hexo. After that I post some articles on it, not too many, just 4 posts, then I dropped it. The latest post was post on July 27, 2018. This means that the blog was only active for one year, then it became inactive although it was still online. There are two reasons for this result. One is that I was too lazy to update it, the other is that I tried to write posts in English so that more people can understand, however I am not a native English speaker, my English skill is not good enough for me to write posts. Sometimes I have something to be written down, I can express it well in Chinese easily but when I try using English, I can’t even express what I want to say well.

The Bitcoin Miner Trojan zed.exe and alpha.exe

The Bitcoin Miner Trojan zed.exe and alpha.exe

Prologue

I’m using Microsoft Windows 8.1 as my operating system. Several days ago, I was told by Windows Defender that a malware was detected and removed. I thought it was KMSpico, which can activate my OS and Microsoft Office illegally, that is removed. This kind of things happened a lot before but I didn’t think it would happen again this time because I had add KMSpico to the exception list of Window Defender so that it would be trusted. Then I checked the detected and quarantined item named Trojan:Win32/CoinMner with details that:

Category: Trojan
Description: This program is dangerous and executes commands from an attacker.
Recommended action: Remove this software immediately.
Items:
file:C:\Users\dqwyy\AppData\Local\Temp\nvd\zed.exe
Get more information about this item online.
